It's because the actual core of his "revolution" is to avenge Itachi's pain. Nothing more and nothing less.

Obito massacred the Uchiha, even in novel he was the one who killed the children and women (feel free to treat it as filler).

Obito harvested his clansmen's Sharingan and used it for his own Izanagi benefit while he can't even bring himself to take his own Sharingan back from Kakashi, he even felt bad for it being returned to him and gave Kakashi Susanoo trial.

Obito is the reason why Uchiha was segregated (Uchiha was treated decently before Kyuubi Attack and their people were suspected of freeing the Kyuubi) and the bastard even lied to Sasuke by saying that Kyuubi breakout was natural incident to portray Uchiha as ultimate victim, while he deliberately unleashed Kyuubi to avenge Rin.

Yet Sasuke didn't harbor any hatred for Obito because :

(1) Sasuke ultimately only cared for Itachi's pain at that time and Obito is not the one who pushed Itachi to his painful fate. Even in a way I think he saw Obito as Itachi's helper

(2) Obito essentially controlled Sasuke's narrative (brainwashing him to be honest) and made his rightful anger toward Itachi's fate bigger and more harmful for his own destructive benefit

I think fandom truly overestimate Sasuke's "Uchiha Revolution" while clearly all the boy did was being angry for Itachi's pain. That's why his hatred for Konoha vanished after understanding Itachi's feeling. People can have opinion about whether it's justified or not but Sasuke didn't care for that. He only cared for Itachi's feeling. That's why he asked the Founders, because even after hearing Itachi's side of the story, he still didn't understand Itachi's feeling. Then he understood Itachi's feeling and next move tried to emulate him (being all murderous and burden all hatred alone) but Naruto didn't allow him to.

It makes me laugh so much when people say that Sasuke being revolutionist on VoTE 2 and Naruto "beaten him into submission". All Naruto did was to prevent Sasuke from doing the thing Itachi did that greatly hurt Sasuke AND Itachi. The same action that people accuse Itachi for being "bootlicker"

Didn't Obito help in the Uchiha massacre too? Sasuke wanted to kill Obito before he knew who he was like he said when he was fighting Itachi. But when the time came Sasuke just said leave me alone. He probably just wanted to be done with it all. But Sasuke wanting vengeance on Konoha while Obito was right there was something weird. Naruto and Sasuke's behavior is strange towards Obito.

Mmm. I like many characters, I'd say, but to varying degrees, and not always do they bring me as much joy in canon as they do in fanon.

I've been into Naruto since I was 12, and my interest in the series has gone up and down over time. Back then, I don't think I gave much of a shit about Itachi at all and instead, my favorite character was Obito. Oh, how the turns have tabled. I also liked Gaara a lot early on, but that period was fairly brief.

Currently, my biggest favorites are Itachi and Sasuke. I'd vote in Shisui as well, but unfortunately, I think many of my opinions are shaped primarily by fanfiction 😭 Which brings me to my next point...

It's a joke at this point, but sometimes the fanfiction - not even by altering a character's characterization but by diving deeper into their existing psychology and expanding upon its human aspects - does a better job at portraying a character, leading the fandom to develop a new commonly accepted lore which is referred to as "fanon". This is how I often end up enjoying characters like Madara, Izuna, and Tobirama as well even though their canon characterization might not speak to me personally (because nothing goes over a tsundere adopting children /hj). Fugaku is on the list as well-ish. He is the one that I got attached to IN SPITE of fanfiction telling me otherwise. My entire issue is that I am no longer certain whether the personality I have in my head for Fugaku is actually canon or just... made-up (he barely has any screen time, why is my interpretation of him so complex?).

There are also a lot of characters that I like a moderate amount. That list includes Kakashi, Tsunade, and Choji. And if we include Boruto characters, I do enjoy Sarada and Mitsuki as well. It simply just isn't enough for me to become very attached to or even just seek out fanfic that portrays them as more complex or more compelling characters. A good fanfic could probably change my perception of them but that's just where I am currently at.

As far as characters I hate go... I do dislike Jiraiya. His "quirks" don't translate well for me personally. That's a me-problem, though, and I understand and support anybody who likes him regardless. I also have beef with Hiruzen, though I have to admit it is mostly a show-vs-tell conflict in which the show pretends he isn't that bad when actually he is and I am not sure whether to prioritize the show or tell version.

Then there are characters I hate and that list includes Danzo and the two elders. Go to super-hell 😊

Regardless of any of this, I do not support harassing anybody over liking or disliking a character (though I don't mind venting). Like and dislike do not necessarily need a justification. They just are and why should we waste our energy on fictional characters of all things? Fandom activism? Too often are favorite ships and characters used to establish group dynamics of fans shitting on other fans.

It's a different story if said people are harassing other fans, publically insulting them, or making shit up. Still not worthy of harassment but definitely deserving of a call-out as, if not regulated, hatred just breeds more hatred and eventual transgressions. I am sure all of us had someone popping up on our blog before only to tell us how stupid we are (not even discussing but just immediately insulting us) for liking something.

What if Obito was the child of the prophecy and not Naruto? Like Jiraiya was supposed to train him but he thought Minato was so after the training was done/Minato grew up, Jiraiya didn't focus on anyone else. Then Obito "died" and Madara saved him, taught him jutsu, his beliefs, etc etc bc J failed his duty so somebody had to step in & to go with the whole "could bring peace or destruction" part. Obito came to the full realization that how the world currently was wasn't right and seeing no other way that change could come without destroying the current world and making a new one where every previously deceased person was alive again. He then began a mission to achieve this all while the world around him continued to go crazier and each death was another he'd restore in the end. Finally, he caused the entire world to band together to bring him down and even though he left his destroy everything mission in the end, his actions caused the world to change somewhat for the better (the countries are friends, but children are still soldiers trained to kill but hey we have a mental health department to help 🤦, and the Uchiha memorial was moved wayyy out to the forest where its not even seen or taught about in school). I acknowledge Obito's involvement in the Uchiha massacre it was wrong obviously but he was planning on bringing everyone back in the new world. Plus if he didn't do it, the Konoha government would have right after via Itachi and whoever else. Obito at least planned to bring them back ya know?? Anyway... I would've LOVED Naruto ending if he was able to go through with the plan by bringing everyone back, Naruto + Co realizing that their way wasn't 100% good, and actually changing things. Oh plus, Obito was a BEAST. He was a very strong and talented ninja in his own right! It took thousands of Shinobi including sanin and kage to bring him (and Madara) down. They're thankful Kakashi had his other sharingan tbh or else it would've been game over lol... Like I'd love to see a Naruto au where Obito, Sasuke, and team Taka lead the new world change post war. Is there anything out there like this???

So... I never was a Naruto fan or anything else, but MEU DEUS, your art are amazing and besides so many things that could be better written, you make me believe on the powers of fan, and I kinda curious, do you like 100% of the series? Like you have anything you hate? (besides Obito)

LOL no! Nowhere near 100%! I love it and the characters and it's a comfort series I've been into since my early teens~

But it has SO MUCH I don't like :( most of it it's just me being able to look at it as a complete work and notice all the "plot holes" - and I can even let those slide, because it's a long work so mistakes are understandable and all - But there's two main plot related things that I just hate :(

-> Everything after the Pein arc. I'm one of those fans who wishes the series' end started there. Everything was perfect and in the right direction for a conclusion, but then they had to add a whole war in there, with edo tenseis for characters whose arcs were already supposed to be closed (Asuma, Dan, the hokages, akatsukis, Haku and Zabuza) or new characters who honestly? Why even? (Those brothers Kurama ate, wtf was up with them?)

-> But then the worst is the way Naruto's character ended :( post Pein Naruto is not the same Og Naruto to me.

I am a fan of many things! including very much those two things! I'm always happy to share my thoughts, even though I never really have on this account! naruto I was first a fan of like... when I was... uh, maybe six or seven years old? one of those things you just glomp onto, like do you EVER get over the fictional media you create original characters for as an eight year old to play out convoluted storylines with your friends?? obviously not. I had one of those headbands with the crossed out symbol outlaw-style and, like, a bag that's the gaara sand gourd, so proper edge lord eight year old stuff. (I do feel like gaara got insane prop in my friend group, he was definitely the most popular character. like my best friend was playing a very obvious gaara-expy. I was also big on temari as I too was the token girl). anyway say what you will about how 'good' that series is, the character design does go CRAZY like it's just banger after banger concept. even shippuden, where I'm deeply meh about most of the actual story, introduces much of the akatsuki and they're all just. such banger characters. luv them. great for fic too, like there's so much to explore in that world that canon did.... maybe not do so.....

the untamed I've also now been into for a while!! 2020 I think I got into it? watched the show, read the book, watched most of the animated show, have also read the other books by the author... the specific characters I'm into are. uh. divisive in certain corners of fandom, and I have seen plenty from the trenches of the discourse. but the actual source material slaps! I'll defo revisit it when I have the time... also my gateway into gay chinese webnovels which was like, a great choice, a lot of stuff I kinda wish I was getting from canonically gay characters in western media. actual development of the relationship! it might be a romance but it's not all romance! moral ambiguity! high stakes! I'm still working my way through jwqs, which is very very very long but is like... lesbian political drama... the main character pretending to be a man and getting herself married to the daughter of the emperor, as she gradually goes about destroying that family from the inside... but she realises she cares about the princess but she's lost herself in this revenge quest so she's like 'I will destroy your entire family but until then I will dedicate myself to your happiness until I do'... LIKE it's such a good time!! I want fifty million stories with similar vibes! ugh

Watching the Obito Reveal in naruto and while I still want to punch this guy in the face, I'm rly enjoying seeing how emotional Kakashi is getting AND how supportive Guy is being to him.
